National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) is a central agency of the Government of India under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. NFDC was incorporated in 1975 for the promotion of cinema in India. It has its headquarters located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. NFDC’s main task is to promote and run integrated and efficient programmes for the development of Cinema in India. Over the years since its establishment, NFDC has produced 300 films in various Indian languages of which 15 are award winning international films that include Salam Bombay, Train to Pakistan, Making of Mahatma etc. Gandhi a movie produced by NFDC won 8 Academy awards in 1983.
